Freight Market Summary

• Clean Tankers – The U.S. Gulf remains oversupplied, with prompt tonnage continuing to weigh on rates. Demand into Latin America and the East Coast is steady, but not enough to clear the growing list of open ships. Owners are facing increased pressure, with sentiment trending soft.

• Crude Tankers – VLCCs remain committed to longer routing via the Cape of Good Hope. The persistent detour continues to absorb global capacity, propping up long-haul rate structures even as broader demand indicators stay flat. The market remains structurally tight despite slow fundamentals.

• LNG Shipping – Spot LNG tonnage is limited in the Atlantic Basin. Seasonal weather risks and ongoing vessel delays are keeping the market elevated. Freight rates remain firm, with upside risk if any new chartering demand emerges.

• Market Overview – Across all sectors, geopolitical routing inefficiencies and congestion are supporting rates. However, owners remain cautious, with clean and crude segments showing signs of topping out unless demand improves.
