Freight Market Summary

Clean Tankers:
Tanker availability remains elevated along the U.S. Gulf, but steady cargo demand toward Latin America and the East Coast is keeping rates from collapsing. Shipowners are still building in voyage risk and time premiums, stabilizing pricing despite high supply.

Crude Tankers:
VLCCs continue avoiding Middle East chokepoints, taking the Cape of Good Hope route instead. These extended voyages are tightening global availability and supporting firm rates, especially on Asia-bound routes.

LNG Shipping:
Atlantic LNG freight rates remain firm as limited vessel supply and cautious routing keep availability tight. Avoidance of high-risk areas is prolonging trip cycles and pressuring spot supply.

Geopolitical & Routing Watch:
Flows through the Strait of Hormuz and the Red Sea remain subdued. Vessel owners continue to favor longer but safer paths, especially via the Cape. These choices are reinforcing longer delivery timelines and elevated insurance premiums.
