Freight Market Summary
Clean Tankers – Ample tonnage remains in the U.S. Gulf, but consistent export flows to Latin America and the U.S. East Coast are keeping the market balanced. Risk premiums tied to extended voyages and geopolitical uncertainty continue to act as a pricing floor, limiting downside despite available capacity.
Crude Tankers – VLCCs maintain their preference for the Cape of Good Hope route, bypassing the Red Sea and Strait of Hormuz. This longer routing absorbs global capacity, sustaining firm long-haul rates—particularly on Middle East–Asia trades—and keeping a built-in geopolitical risk premium in place.
LNG Shipping – Spot LNG demand in the Atlantic Basin remains steady. Weather-related risks and longer routing patterns keep vessel supply tight, supporting firm rates in a balanced but vulnerable market.
Routing & Geopolitics – Across all tanker segments, detours around high-risk regions remain the norm. Extended voyage durations continue to restrict near-term tonnage availability and uphold freight pricing momentum, even in otherwise balanced conditions.
