Freight Market Summary

Clean Tankers
The U.S. Gulf continues to see ample clean tanker availability, but steady demand from Latin America and the U.S. East Coast is keeping rates stable. Risk premiums remain embedded in voyage planning, cushioning the downside despite excess tonnage.

Crude Tankers
VLCCs continue to bypass high-risk transit zones, favoring longer voyages around the Cape of Good Hope. This detour sustains tightness in global capacity, keeping long-haul Middle East–Asia routes firm and ensuring a built-in risk premium in crude tanker pricing.

LNG Shipping
Atlantic Basin LNG flows remain steady, with weather-related risks and extended routes keeping tonnage supply constrained. Spot rates are firm, supported by ongoing vessel tightness and the continued drag of longer voyage times.

Routing & Geopolitics
Across segments, extended detours and geopolitical uncertainty remain the key drivers. Tonnage absorption from longer voyages has created a structural floor under freight rates, leaving the market balanced but vulnerable to any sudden swings in demand.
