Freight Market Summary
Clean Tankers
The U.S. Gulf remains oversupplied with clean tankers, but steady export demand into Latin America and the East Coast is supporting rates. Risk premiums and buffer days in planning are preventing a slump—though the situation remains delicate if flows ease.
Crude Tankers
VLCCs are still steering clear of geopolitically risky chokepoints, maintaining reliance on the Cape of Good Hope route. That extended cycle continues absorbing tonnage and keeping long-haul rates firm.
LNG Shipping
The LNG freight market remains tight. Atlantic demand is steady, and risk‐averse routing keeps voyages long, limiting spot availability and sustaining elevated rates.
Routing & Geopolitical Conditions
No major shifts in routing behavior. Clean, crude, and LNG vessels continue to favor the Cape route over Suez or Hormuz, maintaining elevated voyage durations, costs, and freight tightness.
