Freight Market Summary

Clean Tankers
The U.S. Gulf continues to show long vessel lists, keeping owners under pressure. Export demand into Latin America and the East Coast is steady but not strong enough to offset the oversupply. Risk premiums tied to delays and geopolitics remain embedded, providing some rate stability. Market tone is soft but balanced.

Crude Tankers
VLCCs remain firmly committed to the Cape of Good Hope detour, avoiding Hormuz and the Red Sea. These longer voyages continue to absorb tonnage, supporting Middle East–Asia freight rates. Market consensus still treats the Cape route as the default, which provides structural support despite muted demand signals.

LNG Shipping
LNG freight markets remain tight. Atlantic Basin demand is steady, and weather-related risks are extending voyage times. Spot vessel supply remains limited, sustaining firm rates and leaving the market highly sensitive to any incremental demand shifts.

Routing & Geopolitics
No major routing changes observed. Across clean, crude, and LNG, tankers are still detouring around higher-risk chokepoints. This longer routing ties up global capacity and reinforces a structural floor under freight pricing.
